Introduced in 1966, Captain Action’s unique feature is that he can be changed into a variety of other heroes. Costume sets are sold separately, and include a face mask and crime-fighting equipment. Continued interest in the character and toys has driven values of the rare original costume sets over the $10,000 range. The character received new life in 2008 when an all-new series of comic book adventures debuted by Moonstone Comics. Captain Action continues to be one of Moonstone Comics’ top sellers. The recent spate of blockbuster superhero films (with Marvel leading the way) has fanned interest in classic Silver Age comic book characters, like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor and Captain America. Marvel properties will continue to be hot as Marvel makes a big marketing push leading toward the Avengers film in May 2012, and the new Spider-Man film, due July 2012.
